Our first Altoona Palooza meeting of 2012 is on Thursday January 19^th at 5:30 p.m. at Fireside. We would love to have you join us as we look ahead towards our event this coming August. If you have volunteered in the past, we know that you have a talent to share and are passionate about growing events in Altoona. We have so many volunteer opportunities within the Altoona Palooza committee – something for everyone to do. We need the continued support of dedicated volunteers and community members like YOU to keep this event alive!

Please join us at our first committee as we brainstorm and discuss this year’s event.

Your hard work over the last 6+ months helped us make the 2nd Annual 2011 Altoona Palooza a HUGE success! With over 5,000 people attending the 1-1/2 days of the event, the word is getting out – this is a great Community Celebration!

We are already getting geared up for next year to be even bigger and better. But we can’t do it without your help. We are going to be planning fun and exciting brainstorming and planning sessions starting in November! We will send you the dates as soon as they are confirmed. Plan on having a fun time planning a fun event!

Softball, Mud Volleyball and Wine Garden information

Both the Softball and Mud Volleyball tournament brackets have been filled!! Be sure to come Saturday and cheer on your favorite team! The Softball Tournament starts at 8 am and the Mud Volleyball starts at 10 am.

Admission is FREE to Altoona Palooza – but remember to bring some cash for eats, drinks, products, games – and Friday’s Wine Garden.

Friday’s Wine Garden will feature six Iowa Wineries – Grape Escapes, Madison County Winery, Rosey Acres, Santa Maria and Summerset! For only $10, you can enter the Wine Garden and sample wines. Free wine glasses will be provided to the first 100 people. Free snacks in the Wine Garden provided by Fareway. Bottles of wine will be available for purchase. However, if you are wanting to open your wine and drink at Palooza, be sure to bring your own corkscrew! You may open and drink your wine outside of the wine garden and in the Palooza area.

Please note: no open wine or other alcoholic beverage containers may be taken off of the Altoona Palooza designated area.

Volunteer t-shirts were passed out last night – and the volunteers are ready and raring to go this weekend! But we still need more help, particularly with the carnival games on Saturday. Go to the volunteer page and sign up online or contact Bill Pollard if you are able to help! We need you!

Then be sure to make plans to be at the north end of the Sam Wise Sports Complex this Friday night and all day Saturday!

Friday – from 5 to 11 pm – featuring a Wine Garden ($10 admission) from 5 to 8 and the live band, Faculty Lounge, playing from 8 to 11 pm. It’s Community Night with local non-profits as the vendors!

Saturday - from 7 am to midnight – is packed with fun! Pancake Breakfast, Softball Tournament, Mud Volleyball, huge Car Show, Golf Tournament at Terrace Hills, Bingo, Inflatables and Carnival games, Altoona Library Free Family Fun Zone, Kids Karaoke, and then back to back bands starting at 4:30 pm – featuring LB Cake, Fret Noise and Toaster.

Check out all the details on this website! Then bring a lawnchair, some cash (it’s free admission but you won’t want to miss out on all the great food, drink and activities!) and the desire for fun! See you at Palooza!!

Altoona Palooza is going to be even bigger and better than last year. But we can’t make it GREAT without our volunteers! Please help us get the word out and enlist your family and friends. Have them go to our Volunteer Page and fill out the online form. We will get back to you. Plus – you get a snazzy Altoona Palooza Volunteer T-Shirt!! Yes – we’re ordering more this year. Palooza float comes in 2nd place in Prairie Meadows Parade!

A big shout out to all that worked on the Altoona Palooza float that was in the Prairie Meadows Parade on Saturday, August 6th! After all the hard work, and throwing candy and Altoona Palooza souvenirs, the float came in 2nd Place! So much fun!!

Mud Volleyball is full…and Softball is close!

It’s official!! The Mud Volleyball brackets have been filled! Thanks to all that signed up. And guess what? The Softball Tournament is just about full. Time is running out to get registered. There’s a limit of 8 softball teams – sign up today!!
